When the Student is Ready, the Teacher Arrives

Writer: RahulRahul

In life, we often hear the phrase, "When the student is ready, the teacher arrives." But what does this really mean? It's not just about formal teachers in classrooms. Sometimes, individuals, events, or even circumstances become our greatest teachers. These lessons might come from someone you meet briefly or through a challenging experience that leaves a lasting impact.

On a day like today, it's worth pausing to acknowledge these unsung heroes. Who has made a difference in your life? Perhaps it was a mentor, a colleague, a friend, or even a stranger who unknowingly guided you toward a new understanding. These are the moments that shape us, often without us even realizing it at the time.

It’s important to recognize and celebrate these influences. Let them know the impact they’ve had on you. Too often, we don’t express gratitude to those who have played pivotal roles in our lives, and they remain unaware of their significance. By acknowledging them, we not only honor their contribution but also strengthen the connections that guide us.

For me, it was a 10th-grade student I spoke to 23 years ago. She was devastated over a result where she scored less than she expected. Her tears and disappointment opened my eyes to how deeply students need support and guidance. This experience shaped my purpose, leading me to dedicate my work to supporting teens and young adults through our initiative, InnerMined.com.

As we celebrate Teachers' Day, let’s remember not just the teachers who taught us in classrooms but all those who have taught us valuable lessons, knowingly or unknowingly.

Share your stories, reach out to those who have influenced you, and let them know their importance. What are you waiting for?
